Artist Highlight

Kevin Zuckerman was born in St. Louis and grew up in Japan, Thailand, and Greece. He returned to the United States to live in Washington D.C. and Chicago and now lives and works in New Mexico.

At the age of 18, Kevin entered The American Academy of Art in Chicago, IL. After completing his training there, he began his private study with the master painter, Eugene Hall, until Hall's death in 1985. Kevin traces his artistic lineage from Eugene Hall, who was the protege of the master painter, Vladimir Zlatoff-Mirsky, who in turn studied in Moscow under Russia's great famous painter, Ilya Repin. To this day, Kevin paints on the original easel handed down to him through these painters.

Following his art study in the U.S., Kevin lived and painted in Spain and Switzerland, travelling throughout Europe, studying the great Masters. In 1993, he was commissioned to paint a mural for the Siemens Corporation Headquarters in Bern. In 2001 the Albuquerque Journal named Kevin the Emerging Artist of the Year. Kevin has created several commissioned murals for the city of Albuquerque, as well as a 21 foot bronze sculpture of Sandhill Cranes in full flight.

Kevin is a multi faceted artist , having mastered many mediums, from oil painting (his primary medium) to sculpture in bronze, pastel and watercolor. He has also worked in many styles along his journey as an artist, from classical to total abstraction to the place he has now arrived. Utilizing and integrating all the various techniques and ideas he has collected and invented along the way, Kevin brings something fresh and unique to the art world.

Kevin's work can be found in the Albuquerque Art Museum collection, as well as in the New Mexico State Capitol Collection on permanent display. Kevin has done artwork for Hollywood films and his work is in public and private collections in the U.S. and Europe.
