Macro photography is my true passion. Shooting subjects up close provides me the opportunity to see details that one would never ordinarily notice. It’s fascinating to take the time to explore and to patiently observe how each element interacts with the other. I’m intrigued by creating “larger-than-life” images, and presenting them on a grander scale than the ordinary, obvious perspective. My intention is that these over sized images compel each viewer to linger with the same vision that I have from behind the lens.
“Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven’t time,
and to see takes time – like to have a friend takes time.” – Georgia O’Keeffe
With a camera in my hands, I am continually seeking and searching and wandering. The interplay between vibrant colors and that special quality of light is what invariably captures my attention. Instantly absorbed, I am caught up considering the features of my subject. I spend a great deal of time with composition, searching from behind the lens for the precise arrangement of my subject.
The entire process of making pictures and creating imagery is very powerful to me. Regardless of the subject, I strive to ponder each moment, retain each experience and consider each opportunity. This work allows me to preserve these moments in my mind, in order to share this valuable experience with others. Whether I’m shooting a close up of a hibiscus or treasured companions, my aim is to preserve these flashes of time so that we can all capture the memories.
