Shekina received a BA in Textile Arts from Humboldt State University in 1982. There she studied Pattern Making, Surface Design, Weaving, Costume Making, Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. She studied as an intern with the Metropolitan Museum Costume Collection, NYC, through the Theatre Development Fund during the summer of 1981. She started Shekina Designs in 1983 and has been exhibiting at art and craft shows ever since.
