In September 2018 after years of sewing quilts, clothing and household items for family and friends, my sister and I decided to form a small company called, Coastal Compass Rose Chicks (CCRC). Our goal was to see if we could sell a variety of machine-sewed products at Art and Craft Festivals on both the east and west coasts of Florida.
Having created and assembled for many years quilts made from beautiful coastal fabrics, we had an abundance of left-over fabric that could be used to create smaller items such as Anything Bags, Coasters and Potholders. As we sewed and sold our products, we searched for additional product ideas and embellishments to enhance our one-of-a-kind inventory. Soon, the inventory included flip flops accenting Anything Bags, paper-pieced compass roses sewed onto potholders and pillows, and new products such as Bowl Nests, Holiday stockings, Passport Folders and Business Card Holders.
Inspiration for our products comes from working with beautiful fabrics. Who can resist the combinations of greys and pinks, purples and greens and reds and oranges. Working from a variety of original patterns, CCRC machine-sews all products using 100% cotton fabric, state-of-the-art RFID blocking fabric and thermal insulating materials. Our inventory is designed with attention to details such as useful and ornamental snaps, charms and beads, covered zipper casings, and strong but decorative loops for hanging. We celebrate the Florida lifestyle by sewing products using cotton print fabrics containing nautical symbols, marine sea life, waves and of course the compass rose itself.
Inventory includes the following products: Anything Bags, Bowl Nests, Business Card Holders, Coasters, Cord Catchers, Ditty Bags, Eyeglass Cases, Passport Folders, Pillows, Placemats, Potholders, Wallets, and of course for the holiday shopper, CCRC offers unique coastal stockings.
