Laurel Karnecki
Jewelry

Laurel trained at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, San Francisco, CA in 2004. Her connection with the process was swift, the practice seemed natural and intuitive.

She fine tuned her craft working in fine jewelry, setting diamonds and carrying out repair in a traditional jewelry store. In 2008 she secured what seemed to be the dream job: Design Assistant, for a jeweler in NYC. This was a tremendous opportunity and priceless learning experience, but the dream was evolving and the desire to develop her own work could not be overlooked. In 2009 Laurel's Bench was created.

Using recycled metals, untreated stones and other natural products, Laurel hand builds each piece as a wearable work of art. Simple metal frames compliment the stones, and domed crystals encase delicate, organic specimens. Laurel pays careful attention to detail and often creates unique interest in her chain work and shaded patinas.

During a decade of travel and exploration she has lived coast to coast and in-between, finally ending in Indiana. She currently lives with her husband and their two children in South Bend, where she is able to spend much of her time creating new work.

"What began as a little girls love of stone has become an outlet I cannot imagine living without" - Laurel Karnecki
