John Maurer’s oil and acrylic paintings are primarily scenes from Europe where he has travelled since 2001. His work is vibrant and spontaneous, with loose expressive strokes of impasto color. Pigment is applied in layers using palette knives, brushes and towels.
He primarily exhibits in juried art festivals in the United States such as the Plaza Art Fair in Kansas City, MO, Outdoor Art Festival of the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT, Coconut Grove Art Show in Miami, FL, Art on the Square in Belleville, IL, Armonk Outdoor Art Show in Armonk, NY, Port Clinton and Gold Coast Art Fairs in Chicago, Metris Uptown Art Festival in Minneapolis, MN, Bonita Springs National Art Festival in Bonita Springs, FL, Naples National Art Festival in Naples, FL, The Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Broad Ripple Art Fair in Indianapolis, IN and State Street Art Fair in Ann Arbor, MI.
His paintings are in numerous private collections in the United States and abroad. He is currently living and working seasonally in St. Petersburg, FL and Granger, IN and travels whenever possible.
