James Veenstra
Glass

James Veenstra is a Michigan native, currently living on a small ranch in Northern Michigan. Veenstra has lived in the Rocky Mountain west and has worked and traveled extensively along the Gulf Coast. Consequently, his unique art glass work reflects the inherent beauty of God’s unspoiled creation in western, mid-western and coastal marine settings.  Veenstra works primarily with glass and uses sandblast etching and painting techniques and a molten metal sculpting on glass technique that he developed.     He has been working with glass as an art media for 40 years.

Veenstra has formal training in both the Arts and Sciences. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Environmental Sciences, and his Master of Science degree from Colorado State University in Resource Management. Veenstra also obtained an art minor at GVSU and has participated in selective art glass seminars and classes.
