My photographic images are mainly of Florida’s natural scenery and historic places of interest. I was born in the small Florida coastal town of Apalachicola, grew up in the Florida Panhandle playing on the beaches and camping in the state parks with my family, where I developed my love of the great “Florida” outdoors. Many of my images are of the dunes, beaches, oyster boats, shrimp boats, lighthouses, and small fishing enclaves of the panhandle that are so special to me. As I travel the state I try to capture other images of “Old Florida” before they are erased by time and development.
Framing my images is one of my passions. Finding unique, eclectic and sometimes historic wood is like treasure hunting for me. I am always on the lookout for something different and cool. I’ve used old shrimp boat wood from Apalachicola, dock wood from the bay, wood I’ve recovered from the Apalachicola River, and trashed wood from historic home restorations. I also use native Florida wood like cypress and cedar, and the highly prized “Apalachicola River recovered heart pine and cypress”. Each frame is handcrafted to bring out its best features and is truly a one-of-a-kind original.
The collegiate images are a blend of my Florida panoramic images and images from the three state universities closest to my heart. My wife, two daughters and I are graduates of the universities. These images are a different take on a familiar subject that I hope will make any student, fan or Alumni proud.
