Painting

My introduction to art started as a child when I saw my mother sketch and knew the oil painting over the fireplace was one she had painted. My big sister was an artist her whole life, acquired a Master’s degree in Art, and went on to teach art in the public school system. Even my Father took up art in his later years and found his forte in carving stone. Art was always something I wanted to do but never found the time until one day I decided to stop by and check on that sign that said “art classes” at the Paul Foropoulos Artist Training Center. I started my first class in January of 2012 and have been hooked ever since. I have always had a creative streak that expressed itself in sewing, quilts, and miniatures, but now the addition of art classes brings a whole new dimension to my creativity and enhances my other projects.

I am humbled by the talent I see around me in the art classes, and especially by the knowledge and ability of our teacher Paul. His understanding of color, medium, subject matter, and techniques makes us all look good. I am constantly amazed to have this level of instruction in my own neighborhood here in Florida.

I have yet to find my niche regarding a style or technique in my art, but look forward to seeing that develop over the years.
