I was born and raised in Colorado amidst the beauty of The Rocky Mountains, where I gained my love and appreciation of nature and my life-long passion for photography. After 31 years of service with the Denver Fire Dept I have followed my dream of traveling the world and visiting and photographing many places of beauty and interest. Over the last ten years, I have experienced different cultures and have gone off the beaten track many times to photograph an amazing and unusual sight.

I first worked in film photography but then switched to digital and I love the freedom this media has given me and has led me to creating images in black and white with selective color.  My aim is to capture and record images of beauty and wonder and I particularly love taking images of trees. Some images will inspire or evoke a mood or have some special meaning to the viewer. My work has been in galleries in the UK, Costa Rica and Colorado.  I am also a member of Shoot 4 Change, an organization dedicated to bringing about a positive social change and giving a voice to people around the world through photography. My photos are on the covers of the novel ‘The Girl from Penthorpe Hill’ and, the sequel, ‘Contribution’ by Carol Clayton.

I have particularly enjoyed the diversity of places I have traveled to, and in 2012 returned from living in Costa Rica for two years, which enabled me to explore the rainforests and wonders of Central America. I am now living in my home state of Colorado and will continue recording my journey through life with my artistic vision. I have been participating in art shows in the United States for over six years. My images are also available on my website http://www.dbmaesworldimages.com in various sizes and media, including glossy prints, canvas and on metal.
