Artist Highlight

Delve into imagination with Dacota Maphis, as she explores her subconscious through digital artwork she calls Photo Revised Art ©. Approaching her skill as an unsolved puzzle, she starts with an original photograph for her inspiration. Then, by working with the limitations of the existing pixels, she designs the work into existence. Moving the pixels around like paint on a canvas, sometimes changing the colors, expanding, contracting or duplicating those original pixels, the results revealing relevance to what she is experiencing.  Born in Greenville South Carolina, Dacota moved to Florida at age nine after the untimely deaths of both her father and days later her best friend.  She still lives in Clearwater and works as a full time award-winning artist in several mediums including her Photo Revised Art ©.
