These aluminum panels are part of an ongoing experiment that started about ten years ago at my sign shop, Vital Signs, in Verona, Wisconsin. I use a lot of aluminum on signs I build at the shop. I started scratching and grinding the aluminum to help the aluminum elements on the sign stand out and be more visible. With all of the scrap aluminum I had laying around the shop, I started thinking that I could make some wall art out of the aluminum. By scratching the surface of the aluminum the light reflects off the surface from different angles creating amazing holographic effects of depth and space on a two dimensional object.
