My inspiration to create a distinctive line of jewelry begins by intersecting primitive and contemporary design. I am inspired by the symbolic nature of primitive art and the quality of expression and range of communication offered. I am equally inspired by the striking appearance of the clean, bold, and graceful lines of modern design.
When I combine my forged sterling silver components with extraordinary gems the result is an expressive sculpture with clean contemporary lines in a primitive motif. Each piece is asymmetrical yet balanced between metal and rock, composition and color. I am a self-taught silversmith. I began working full time in 1974. I have been invited to exhibit my work at some of America's most highly regarded Art Festivals, and have received thirty six awards over my career.
