About Sam and his art…
Sam Jones IV was born in Houston, Texas in 1970. He works predominantly in mixed-media,
most recently combining wood, metal-leaf, wax pencils and resin to create multi-dimensional
engravings and drawings. Influenced by line and composition from an early age, he has worked for years to refine his visual and conceptual vocabulary through his focus on the intersection between light, depth and form.
Jones has studied art at Sam Houston State University, the University of Houston, The
Glassell Studio School and life drawing at the Austin Visual Arts Association. He has
shown in Santa Fe, NM at McLarry Modern Gallery, at Kirchman Gallery in Texas,
Lovetts Gallery in Tulsa, OK and Trager Contemporary Gallery in Charleston, SC.
Jones’s work can be found in myriad of public and private art collections both in the
United States and abroad. He currently lives and works in Flippin, Arkansas.
